Gain the confidence you need to create content and show up online!
The word confidence means a lot to many people, but can we hard to maintain or obtain. Gaining confidence is a practice, it takes time and you always have to work on it.
So what about the confidence to create content and show up with the content you have on offer. Showing up live, showing up online takes confidence, we know that.
Let me ask you this question, does confidence hold you back? Does your confidence and the confidence you have in your content stop you from showing up to your audience?
As Ocean Alley said, it’s all about confidence babyyyy! The more confidence you have in your content, the more energy you give off, the more infectious you before and the more people want a piece of you!
So how do we get the confidence to show up? What do we need to do? Well, I called in content creator, Gillian Mulholland to give the tips and strategies so we can be more confident and show up more authentically for our business!
The key to gaining confidence
What did Gill give us? Yes, that is right, the key to gaining the confidence you need to SHOW up consistently. Of course, that is this, self-love.
When you learn to love yourself, you learn to love who you are, which gives you the confidence to be you. To be authentic!! But of course, this takes work. It isn’t easy but it is worth it. Not only will this allow you the confidence to show up online, but it will give you confidence throughout your whole business and journey!
The self-love you gain isn’t something anyone can teach you, it is a practice you need to develop and implement into your life daily and this is what Gill talks about. She discovered this, which helped her create the confidence she needed to show up, sing on LinkedIn and ultimately gain 20k followers!
Think about the power you can have if you have the confidence you need to show up authentically to you! That comes down to the level of self-love you have!
Want to learn more about self-love? Here are some resources for you:
Pushing through the comfort zone
We understand creating content is pushing through your comfort zone (for some) and the more you do it, the easier it gets. You will get to the point whereas Gill said, you will need to push through again!
Some days you won’t feel 100% confident to show up, and that is okay. But to be consistent, some days you need to hit send with your eyes closed and take a deep breath. Your content has value to give and not showing up will make you feel worse.
A comfort zone is aligned with you. Your comfort zone will be different to mine and different to anyone else’s. Your comfort level might be larger, which means you are prepared to do more. So make sure you are aware of your comfort zone and put the processes in place to push through.
For content creation, this could be recording that video for your IG story and leaving it for a day or so before you post. You need to know where your comfort level sits.
Getting the confidence to show up daily
So how do you get the confidence to show up daily? Put the practices in place and take action on those. Maybe it is a Google Calendar of when you need to show up and where, that way you have an accountability partner, that is your calendar.
It could be your goals that you see daily to motivate you to get on a live or to post that video. Once you know your comfort zone level, you will know what you have to do to give yourself the confidence to show up.
Maybe it is playing music before you show up, using affirmations or journaling. Show yourself, and this comes down to the self love. Knowing yourself enough will help you know what you need to do to give yourself the motivation to show up.
This is a practice, the more you did what you had to do to show up, the easier it gets. But you need to make a start!
Let’s talk personal brand
Building your personal brand is so important for your business. The way we do business now has changed the way we attracted an audience to our brand.
People want to deal with people. You want people to think of you when they think of your business not the name or the logo (unless your business name is you).
To do this, you need to build a personal brand and build yourself as authenticity in your industry. Of course, you can’t do that without showing up online.
This is a good reminder when you need that confidence to go live or post a video. Your audience needs you and you need you to make yourself be seen to help with your business identity.
Build on the brand that is you and show up for your business. As I said before, people will pick up on your energy. When you show up as you in your content, people will vibe your energy.
How to do ‘messy action’
Gill says “messy action” and what does this mean? It means, don’t let perfectionism stand in your way! You have a message to deliver, you have a story to share and if you get caught up in the appearance or the delivery, you will never show up.
You will never gain the confidence you need to meet the high standards you set for yourself. Now, of course, take pride in your content and we, of course, want quality content, BUT if you get too caught up in the ‘perfect’ delivery, you will never deliver.
So have a look at your content, what you do to show up and how much energy it takes out of you making sure it is “perfect” to you. Look at your delivery and look at where you can add some ‘messy action’ to get the content out there without hesitation.
You will gain more confidence the less pressure you put on yourself to be perfect.
How hiring a coach will change your life
Again, as Gill said, if you need help pushing yourself to the next level, hire a coach. A coach can help you push to limits you never thought possible for yourself in the time you have set.
A coach helps you be accountable, they give you the confidence and they guide you on your journey to success. Yes, you can do it on your own 100%, but a coach will give you the tools you need NOW and will see what you can’t.
A coach is your number one support and will give you the confidence you need to show up authentically. So think about the struggles you are having and look for a coach to help you push forward.
We aren’t just saying this because we are coaches, but because we have had coaches and we know how much they have changed our lives AND business!
My confidence journey
My own battle with confidence and my content is still happening to this day. It is a muscle we build up and have to continue to maintain and develop. We don’t just lose weight one day and then go, oh yep I’m done I don’t need to eat healthy anymore or exercise. The same goes for your confidence.
To build on my own confidence I used the power of affirmations, journaling, meditation (specific to confidence), and ‘messy action’ to build on what I have now created.
When I post on platforms like TikTok or my YouTube channel, I have hesitation. But I know it is because it is new to me!
Of course, I know myself, I have done the inner work and I know my limiting beliefs (see in my blog from last week on this) and I talk myself into what I need to do. I know my content gets results, I know I can use it to show up and deliver for my audience and I know it adds value.
So that keeps me posting and keeps me consistent!
I remember my first live, it was HARD! I was shaking and was so nervous, it took me like an hour to gear myself up for a 5 minute live. Then the next time it took me only 10 minutes to get ready and now I hit live with ease! I also know if I stuff up, who cares?! I laugh at myself and keep going!
You can do that too!
Final thoughts
How are you feeling now? Do you think you can add a plan to show up with confidence? Do you need to do some more inner work to gain more confidence?
Of course, I have some good resources for that here:
AND we have Gill to help you too! Make sure you get in touch with GIll.
But of course, if you have other content creation limiting beliefs, please let me know on IG. Of course, I want you to remember. Your comfort zone is yours, just like your content is authentic to you. But you have the power to post whatever you want. No one is stopping you but YOU!!
You have the power, because your message needs to be heard! I know you want to do this!
