How to use Instagram for business

Using Instagram for your business and maximising the platform is all about consistency!

Make sure you’re being as active as you can (maybe 5 days on the feed, maybe less) and utilize features in your feed like carousels for quickly absorbed tips and hacks.

HOT TIP: Did you know the user will be presented with the first slide in the feed, if they scroll past again, they will be presented with the second slide - it is like a drip-email campaign!

Another way you can utilise Instagram to get the most out of it is through stories! In stories, you can be present, show your face and show up for your audience. This is super important to help you stay consistent with your business

You want to blend all of these types of content together to really get the most out of the platform. Remember, it is a platform within a platform so use the features!

What will Instagram look like in 2022

In the new year, we’re predicting awesome trends for Instagram!

We see a lot of close comparisons with TikTok and Instagram, a lot of trends seem to be consistent across the apps so get ahead of the game and do some research on TikTok, it definitely won’t hurt!

Following the ‘video’ content theme, live videos will be HUGE. So utilise this by showing up and collaborating with (To collaborate, you can also use the collaboration feature that Instagram offers itself). Video can also help with building community and showing your audience the best ways to create! Remember, practice what you preach - video will be huge in 2022 so showcase that through the content you post.

With this, ensure you are telling your story and sharing it. Your story is what makes you unique and gives personality to your brand, so share it with everyone. At the end of the day, IG is a social media platform so don’t be afraid to be social and be the face of your brand that your audience will love to see.

Selling on Instagram

Besides being a social platform, Instagram is also amazing for selling! Overall, there are two types of selling on Instagram:

  1. Lead generation (have a CTA to check out your blog, podcast, freebie etc) and get them on the email list to eventually sell

  2. Direct selling - You can have a link in your bio for people to buy directly from.

Either way, it is up to you and your business and what works best!

The vanity of Instagram

Not just with IG but with any platform, you need to keep track of your analytics and statistics. Make sure, specifically with this platform, that you look at the whole picture of your stats to get a good look at what is doing well and not so well.

For example, reels will get you reach but other content will get you website taps, so pick your goal whether it is reach or website taps, and focus on getting the numbers up to suit your goals!

Using Instagram reels for success

Speaking of reels, we have some tips to set you up for success!

  • Keep them short (it has been said that 7 seconds is the sweet spot)

  • Have a hook in the beginning to capture attention

  • Don’t expect people to read the caption

  • Use Trending audios

  • Have an engaging cover image so people know what it is about

  • Being in reel mode (see how you engage with reels, people don’t always engage when they are in reel mode so expect more reach than likes or CTAs)

And, of course, make sure you have fun with them!

Stand out and be unique on Instagram in 2022

In 2022, it is all about being unique and sharing your story. Don’t be afraid to come up with ideas that people aren't talking about yet - find your fab factor (to learn about that click here)

Allow your target audience to get to know you so they are more open to messaging you to ask questions, grab advice and engage in what you talk about.
