Introverts in business: how to navigate online content creation as a business owner
Feeling exhausted from the hamster wheel of content creation? I think we’ve all been there…
But as an introvert (or someone easily drained by online content and social media), you might find yourself feeling even more exhausted. While you understand it is important for business, maybe it doesn't always feel worth it.
We are here to prompt you to question your thoughts and make changes to help you create aligned content for your business.
You may be thinking “What does an aligned content marketing strategy look like for me?” You might just find that out today!
The 6 tips for introverts creating content
Be aware of how you feel when you create
This is all about self-awareness, think about what exercises drain you and work out what you can do instead. Prioritise the things you may struggle with first so they are done and out of the way, then finish the day with the things you really enjoy!
Dig into the numbers
Look at the analytics and see if there is room to leave a channel that drains you. If this channel drives a lot of traffic to your website, it is best to stay on it, however, if it isn’t gaining a lot of traction you may be able to drop it and focus on one that does.
Focus on the content to attract, not the engagement
While a social media channel should be social, if the engagement side drains you, focus on creation and delivery. Get the content out there that you are proud of and want to see, as well as this, think of creative ways that you can deliver your content, and make sure to stay consistent.
Outsource what drains you
If you are really struggling to do a certain task in your business that either takes too much time, drains you mentally or you simply don’t enjoy it, maybe it’s time to think about outsourcing. While this is an investment, it can be very beneficial to save you time (and sanity). To read more about outsourcing, click here
Batch to give yourself breaks
Content creation can feel like a never-ending cycle, but there are ways to take time away from it. Batching is an awesome way to do just that. If you work 2-3 weeks ahead, it gives you the ability to take your time, take days off between creations and stay motivated. It may take a bit of time at first but I promise it’s worth it!
Be open to test
If any platform scares you, you need to test it! For example, if you are worried to create a podcast because you’re using your voice every week, you need to test that. Then you can see if it is out of fear or because you just don't want to do it. There’s only one way to find out!
