Content marketing may seem like a tricky concept to wrap your head around, but we wanted to break it down so it’s easy to understand!

Content marketing is just creating content to market your business. It is a marketing strategy!! Just like SEO, online advertising, and funnel building, content marketing is a strategy. 

This type of marketing involves the creation and sharing of online content (including videos, blogs, and social media posts - or whichever you prefer) that aims to create connection, awareness, and of course, sales and profit for a business. 

So you may be wondering how you can achieve your goals in content marketing within your business? Well, that’s easy, what you need is a content marketing strategy. 

A strategy, simply put, is a plan that keeps you accountable so you know when you should be showing up, where you should be showing up and what you should be saying. PLUS it is amazing for staying organised and inspired through your brand and what you post daily, weekly or monthly!

A content marketing strategy is made for businesses to make time spent on content creation more efficient and to amplify what they create, however, this is not all it is for.

It’s so important to make sure you are tracking the traffic to your website, where your audience is coming from, your SEO and everything else that comes with running a business, a strategy will help you keep track of these and help you see what needs to be improved.

  3. Marketing and content creation are all a numbers game; a strategy helps you consistently be seen by your aligned audience and potential clients. No more wasting time on content that isn't working for your business.

  4. It will help you work out content that converts. At the end of the day we all want to sell, having a strategy in place will help you to see the content that is helping you do that and the content that isn't

  5. Optimises what is working and helps you see what is missing. A lot of the time we can get so caught up on staying consistent that we don't see when posts are working or not, a strategy can help you make the most of your time by staying consistent but ALSO posting and creating what works for your brand and your audience.

Examples of how content strategy works for business 

We love a content strategy so much that we use one for Content Queen AND our lovely clients!

More specifically, we use one for the Content Queen podcast. We use a strategy to help map out topics a few weeks ahead of schedule and get guests/points of a conversation organised and ready to go, this then helps us map out the rest of the content for the weeks ahead too.

All of the content we create centres around the theme of the week and helps us stay organised, PLUS if anything is to go wrong or something is to come up we can make arrangements around it!

Just recently we had planned to have a guest on and were going to record her interview the week before that podcast was set to come out. However, for personal reasons, our guest had to cancel. Thanks to our content strategy being in place, we didn't have to miss a podcast, we simply just rearranged our weeks a bit. The show must go on, and it sure did!

Another example is with one of our amazing clients we are mentoring with a product-based business. She is launching a brand new line within her business and her goal was 200 units to be sold, awesome goal right?! 

To do this, as we mentioned previously, we needed to get her content seen by more people. So that is when we decided to put a strategy in place around her pre-launch and launch phase and mapped out all o the social captions and emails that were to go with this. 

Remember that content is a numbers game, so once we had a strategy in place with this business owner we were able to see what was working and what wasn't and adjust to get the most of the content which leads to sales!
