Background on The Content Queen Podcast

To give you some context on how long I’ve been podcasting, we have to go back a few years. The Content Queen podcast wasn't always called that, it actually started in 2018 with a totally different name!

Life as a Freelancer was the first podcast I ever had, however, I knew it wouldn't work when I started my business. Instead, I wanted a space where I could help people in their journey through marketing and building their brand. I wanted something I could use to nurture people before they joined my platforms or bought my services - so that’s what I created!

The rebrand in 2020 from Life as a Freelancer to The Content Queen podcast was something super exciting for me as I started my business, and I haven't looked back since!

When starting a podcast...

Starting a podcast is something anyone can do, it’s actually a lot more simple than you think!

You can grow it as fast as you want, it is all determined by how much time and energy you put into creating, recording, editing, posting, and promoting! This, along with the mindset that a podcast can be a tool that will grow over time, sets you up for success from the beginning.

BUT if you need some more guidance, we have just the thing for you! We are giving away a free guide to all things podcasting! There is so much value and we explore so much; there is information about getting started, promoting your podcast, repurposing the content to other platforms and so much more. The 50 Lessons for 100 episodes

Now to get into the good stuff! Here are the 50 lessons for our 100 podcast episodes!

  1. Repurposing is key

    • Repurposing isn't just about taking one source of content and using it over and over again. Instead, it is all about repeating an idea to your audience so that it sticks in their minds (and plus, it is a HUGE timesaver). We repurpose our podcast to a blog, and then a blog to social posts - such a time saver and creates a week’s worth of content!

  2. Have a purpose for the podcast (it can be simple)

  3. Podcasting is easier than you think

  4. You can rebrand your podcast + things can change - you don’t have to do the same thing with it

  5. Average podcast goes for 17 episodes (that’s your goal to beat)

  6. Promote more than once to social media. Keep talking about the podcast

  7. Use your podcast as a lead generation tool!

    • Your podcast can be an awesome platform to talk about your offers/ what you are promoting at the time - take advantage of your time recording and don’t be afraid to promote, promote, promote! Use it to get people into your space. Nurture them before they join your email list and then create free tools for them.

  8. Use your podcast as a resource for clients, new clients, potential clients

  9. Keyword research the title (this helps SEO)

  10. Look at the stats each month

  11. Use your podcast for launches - a great way to elaborate on what will be included and how you have used what you’re offering to reach goals. Talk about the outcomes and why your audience needs what you are launching!

  12. Be guest strategic too (your clients, people in your network, people who will share it)

  13. Getting a review is critical

  14. You can have some episodes off but consistency is important

  15. Your audience will tell you a lot

    • By talking to them OR looking at the number. What episodes are popular, what length of time do they like etc

  16. Update your show notes links - They could be broken from URL changes, stay on top of this

  17. Be mindful of what you post on your shownotes

  18. Promote your freebies

  19. Join other podcasts as much as you can

  20. Equipment you need is minimal

  21. But the equipment you buy is important
