What type of writer are you?
What type of writer are you?
We all write, whether it is for work, for school or just in general. We are all writers, whether you think so or not!
However, we are all different types of writers! Some waffle on, some just get to the point. At Content Queen, I have put together some of the key writing types! So you can see what writer you are. Once you have some idea of what type of writing you like or do well, the easier it is to enjoy and grow a passion for writing!
Whether you LOVE a good story, or you find you are good at getting shit done via a powerful email, this is a fun way to find out more about you and your writing skills!
Don't worry, you can be more than one!
Storyteller
A storyteller LOVES to share. As a storyteller, you express yourself in a very exciting way, but you also love diving into a fictional story. Maybe you even love writing a fictional story, creativity is your thing.
You might be that person at a party or social gathering who ALWAYS has an "oh so I know this person who…" or "you'll never guess what happened to me…" You could even say you may be a bit of a story topper (not my words exactly - I'd say a story connoisseur).
At school, show and tell on a Monday morning was your jam!
You might be the silent storyteller, the one who doesn't like to be the centre of attention but in that brain of yours, you are always thinking of creative ways to express yourself.
As a storyteller, you might not know how to get your ideas down on paper, so you never do. You might even have a best seller going on in that head of yours but have never actioned all your amazing ideas!
Storytellers have books laying inside them just dying to breakthrough. Have you considered writing a book?
Experience Sharer
The experience sharer, like the storyteller, also LOVES sharing a good story or message, most of the time, this is from first-hand experiences.
You like to use your experience to not only share with people but also to help people learn from what you did or didn't do. Probably also known to read a lot of books on personal development - or youtube videos!
As an experience sharer, you want to help people but also help yourself. By informing and educating, you use your mistakes, regrets and wins to help others be the best version of themselves.
Or you just like to understand a situation better! An experience sharer could also be a motivator, even if they don't realise it.
Sharing these experiences can change lives, sharing a message, and a story could help others learn from your life lessons.
Experience sharers could be sharing with the world by using just one simple platform, a blog.
Does a blog sound more appealing to you?
Social Media-er
A social media-er is a social media user, which we all are. However, they get a little more invested then they would often like to.
Nothing wrong with this! A social media-er is seen on their phone, A LOT. Whether it is messaging friends or scrolling the feed, a social media-er is consistency engaging and just know STUFF.
They are really into the short-form communication, no need to write too much - maybe only if it is a detailed message to a friend about the weekend antics.
But as I've said once and I've said it again - we all have a story to share. We all have an inner writer in us. So why not tap into the social media world and micro-blog your journey?
Trust me, you have it in you!
Get to the point-er
A get to the point-er is just that, they get to the point. No messing around here. Short-form is the best form and emails or messages are the go to communication platform.
They are really good at relaying a story in the matter of a paragraph or sentence no matter how big or small the information is.
The get it the point-er could be seen going 1000 miles a minute and is probably known for being a multitasker.
This is a journalism style, the "who, what, when, where, why and how" can be pretty much summed up early in the piece. Whether that is verbally or written, these people know how to sum up a story instantly.
Stories are still made to be shared, so that is why micro-blogging, blogging and articles are the go to platform if you are a get to the point-er, you will be sharing a message in a matter of minutes. No need for too much text, you got this to an art form.
People will engage with you if you have a message to share, whether it is long or not.
What one are you?
So have a think about it - what type of writer are you? Now you have read the different types I classify as a writer you can't deny you are a writer!
Who am I? Well, I have developed through the motions other the years, but I am definitely an Experience Sharer on the border of a Storyteller - I LOVE a good story.....
