You don't need loads of social media followers to bring in aligned clients

Are you ALWAYS in the fixed mindset that you need loads of followers on social media to have a successful business? 

Well, I am here to tell you - you don’t need loads of social media followers to bring in ALIGNED clients. Of course, social media is a great way to generate an audience to your business and the more people in the circle the better chance you have of people buying from you (if we look at statistics, more people = more purchased based on conversion rates). BUT what if these people aren’t aligned? What if they are following you but NEVER buy from you? 

So, of course, more followers does not mean more clients. 

I’m here to SMASH your limiting beliefs and give you ways to bring in aligned people to your community so you can serve them.

You want fans not followers 

Fans, an aligned audience, your soul-led tribe - whatever you call them. When people follow you on social media, it doesn’t mean they will see your content. They might never see your posts, which means they don’t even connect with your content. 

You want fans not just followers. Fans are the people who like, comment, share, save and create content for your brand! These are the people who love what you are about and will sing to the hilltops about you! 

You might have 10,000 followers, but what if most of those followers never engaged with your content let alone go to your website? 

If you build up the content your audience loves and build a brand they connect with, it really doesn’t matter. You could have 100 followers and 30 of them buy from you consistently (not just once), well isn’t that a great start to your business? 

Continue to build on the momentum of these fans and you will reach a bigger audience of people you can serve and help. 

Focus on creating the content your aligned audience loves (not the clickbait stuff) and you will see aligned people in your corner build up over time. Remember, followers are JUST a number and you should never judge anyone else based on their followers. 

How to get clients on (and off) social media - 20 ways to do so! 

  1. Get SUPER clear on who they are - if you think you are clear, get clearer (target market research NEVER stops) 

  2. Build content they engage with and YOU align to (you need to have the balance of what you love and what your audience loves) 

  3. Get into the habit of having a call to actions in your content (Get into the habit of asking your audience to act, even if it is a ‘double tap if you agree’

  4. Remember the objective of your content (to get people to your website so they can buy from you - social media is like the beautiful shop window)

  5. Connect with EVERY person who follows you and is aligned with your audience (especially at the beginning of your journey - voice messages work the best) 

  6. Create engagement on the platform in multiple ways (DM, comments, share other people’s content) 

  7. Collab with other people on lives and other content creation (so you can get your name out there. Also builds confidence) 

  8. Build an email list when you can and nurture them (email list is so valuable - see below for more about email marketing) 

  9. Focus on one platform and do it WELL (if you are feeling overwhelmed) 

  10. Be consistent (read more about my struggles with this here

  11. Make your message direct and simple (who do you help and why) 

  12. Make your website EASY to navigate (take tips from episode 52 - below) 

  13. Share YOUR message and YOUR journey (sharing is selling - don’t forget that)

  14. Look at what content works (see in the resources for more on what you need to measure) 

  15. Be inspiring but relatable - have a balance. You want people to look up to you but you also want them to connect with you 

  16. Educate people - be the leader of your niche (create educational content - but remember, this could look different for every niche. Doesn’t just have to be “5 tips on how to do XYZ”) 

  17. Have goals that aren't vanity specific (some could include - show up 5 days a week on Instagram. Start off small and build it)  

  18. Learn and grow from every piece of content you create, from every caption or story

  19. Do NOT compare yourself (never!!!! It never helps you)  

  20. Shift the mindset, I want you to say this every day for 30 days “I don’t need lots of followers to bring in clients”

Try these, continue to work at it, and shift your mindset! 

Content without a strategy is not content marketing 

You know from following me that content marketing is a HUGE player in the game of an online business. BUT if you create content without a strategy, it is not content marketing. 

Content marketing is the strategic use of content to market your business. If you have no plan, no goals and no real action, you are not implementing content marketing into your business. 

Trust me, a strategy doesn’t have to be overcomplicated, it just has to be a plan of how you are going to consistently bring people into your business through the written, visual or verbal form! 

You know I started my Instagram from scratch, I didn’t have many followers on LinkedIn and my podcast didn’t exist. I started out with no strategy and it really hurt me in the beginning. How did I know? Because I NEVER got clients from social media, this was not because I was just starting out, it was because I didn’t have a strategy. 

Now, I work with clients with ALL ranges of followers, and a content marketing strategy has been the key to their social media client attraction success!

Get your energy in check

When it comes to creating these “fans” in your business, it is all about getting your energy right. If you are not in the energy of your content and you don’t get behind your message, people will read through it! 

Get a strategy, feel passionate about what your message is, and work on improving your energy and trust me, people will want in! When you show up with energy, people really do resonate with you. Not everyone will - but the people you need (and the people who need you) will!
