The 4 different types of content writers
We are all writers. Doesn't matter if you got A's on your school writing assignments or not. We all write every day.
Understanding the type of writers we are is the key to creating the right type of content for you. To make it enjoyable. To make it more like, well authentic to you.
I know that not everyone has a passion for writing, I know that some people even hate writing, so it is important to find the most enjoyable way to write and go with it. So if this is you, this blog is what you need!
From my own research and experience with writing, I have broken down the 4 types of writers there are. Have a read, think about which one you are and start writing from your own strengths; from your own writing style!
How I become a writer
I have always LOVED writing. Even in Highschool when her grades weren't the best, his did not slow her down.
I would write for fun all the time, I would change the lyrics to songs and write loads of fiction on my laptop (that I would be embarrassed about and delete). Then in 9th grade, I created my own magazine for an assignment and fell in love with the idea of becoming a journalist! ✨
From there my passion for writing grew and by the end of high school, I had done English, Literature and History and LOVED it. Whilst I didn't always use the most 'amazing' type of language, my writing was direct and to-the-point which is now very well received by clients and the people who follow me and Content Queen!
I even wrote a book in 1 month as a challenge to myself? All of this worked together to really fuel my passion for writing and has now led to the Content Queen we all know and love today!
I also recently have discovered that I am an experience sharer and a get to the point-er (more on that later) which has helped me find inspiration for what I want to write. THEN as a content creator, I am a long-form blogger! If you want to find out what type of writer you are, make sure to have a look at the quiz below AND then do the Content Queen content channel quiz.
Think of this quiz created by us as a business self-discovery tool! A chance for you to learn more about marketing your business. A chance to learn more about yourself and what channel allows you to be the most creative!
What type of writer are you?
We all write, whether it is for work, for school or just in general. We are all writers, whether you think so or not!
However, we are all different types of writers! Some waffle on, and some just get to the point. At Content Queen, we have put together some of the key writing types! So you can see what a writer you are. Once you have some idea of what type of writing you like or do well, the easier it is to enjoy and grow a passion for writing!
Whether you LOVE a good story, or you find you are good at getting shit done via a powerful email, this is a fun way to find out more about you and your writing skills!
Don't worry, you can be more than one!
Not to mention that this formula is the key to finding your ideal marketing strategy. We like to live by this equation: Finding out your writing style + your content channel that is right for you = ideal marketing strategy.
The 4 types of writers
Something formulated based on what we know and what we have seen! Even if you create video content or podcast, you do have to write. So what type of writer are you?
Storyteller
As a storyteller, you love to share and you express yourself in a very exciting way. You also love diving into a fictional story because creativity is your thing.
You’re the type of person at a party who loves to chat and knows something about a lot of things, you say "oh so I know this person who…" or "you'll never guess what happened to me…" You could even say you may be a bit of a story connoisseur!
At school, show and tell was your jam!
As a storyteller, you might not know how to get your ideas down on paper, so you never do. You might even have a best seller going on in that head of yours but have never actioned all your amazing ideas!
Experience Sharer
The experience sharer, like the storyteller, also LOVES sharing a good story or message, most of the time, this is from first-hand experiences.
You like to use your experience to not only share with people but also to help people learn lessons you’ve already been through. You probably read a lot of books on personal development - or even listen to podcasts or watch youtube videos about it!
As an experience sharer, you want to help people but also help yourself. You do this by informing and educating, you use your mistakes, regrets and wins to help others be the best version of themselves.
An experience sharer could also be a motivator, even if they don't realise it.
Sharing these experiences can change lives, sharing a message, and a story could help others learn from your life lessons.
A blog probably sounds very appealing to you, right?
Social Media-er
A social media-er is a social media user, which we all are. However, they get a little more invested than they would often like to.
A social media-er is seen on their phone, A LOT. Whether it is messaging friends or scrolling the feed, a social media-er is consistently engaging and just knows STUFF. And there is nothing wrong with this!
They prefer short-form communication, there’s no need to write too much - maybe only if it is a detailed message to a friend about the weekend shenanigans.
But as I've said once and I'll say it again - we all have a story to share. We all have an inner writer in us.
Trust me, you have it in you!
Get to the point-er
A get to the point-er, you guessed it, just gets to the point. They don’t mess around. Short-form is the best form for them and quick emails or messages are their go-to communication platform.
They are really good at telling a story in the matter of a paragraph or sentence and can fit the most information in this short piece of writing.
If you get to the point, you are also probably a really good multitasker. This is awesome if you have a lot to do but still want to tell a story, you are the "who, what, when, where, why and how" type of person. Whether that is verbally or written, these people know how to sum up a story instantly.
No need for too much text, you got this into an art form. Micro-blogging, blogging and articles are the go-to platforms if you are a get to the point-er, you will be sharing a message in a matter of minutes.
People will engage with you if you have a message to share, whether it is long or not.
